John 3:8 (Go with the Flow)

Welcome God today with this LIFE Group Devotion (website, Facebook).

"The wind blows where it wills, and you can hear the sound it makes, but you do not know where it comes from or where it goes; so it is with everyone who is born of the Spirit." John 3:8 (full readings)

Rich's Reflections: Anyone who knows me, knows that I am a planner. I take comfort in having structure in my life (that's why I like the Air Force), and knowing what lies ahead for me. Sometimes though, planning can become too structured and make us inflexible to the opportunities presented by God and creates anxiety for us when things don't go according to our plans. In today's Gospel reading, Jesus explains that a person "born of the Spirit" is unpredictable like the wind. A person born of the Spirit is not blinded by their own agenda, but they are sensitive to the pull of the Holy Spirit and allow their lives to be guided by the Lord. If you feel that you have to plan, then perhaps you should plan to follow in Christ's footsteps and open yourself to the flow of the Holy Spirit. Lord, I want what You desire for me. Please help me to put my plans aside and give You control. Give me strength, faith, and hope in the Holy Spirit that You have provided to guide me each and every day. Amen.

Faith Challenge: Are you anxious about not having control of the things in your life? Relax, go with the flow, and have faith in the Holy Spirit to guide You in Christ's footsteps.

Faith Quote: "Faith and reason are like two wings on which the human spirit rises to the contemplation of truth; and God has placed in the human heart a desire to know the truth - in a word, to know God - so that by knowing and loving God, men and women may also come to know the truth about themselves." Blessed John Paul II

Genesis 3:4-5 (let go, let God, unite)

Welcome God every morning before your work by taking ~5 min to read this Living In Faith Exchange (LIFE) Group devotion (life-devotions.blogspot.com), which has snippets from Living Faith. All whatsoever you do in word or in work, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ. Col. 3:17

But the serpent said to the woman, "You certainly will not die! No, God knows that the moment you eat of it [the tree] your eyes will be opened and you will be like gods who know what is good and what is bad." Genesis 3:4-5

Living Faith snippets: "Control is the ultimate temptation to "be like gods." In retrospect I see how this is sheer folly, but I continue to do it anyway because fear impels me to grasp at control." by David Nantais

Pat nuggets: Yesterday at the Chemists For Christ Bible study, we discussed St. Paul's timeless call for Christian unity. Although all five of us gathered are different denominations, we joyfully unite in Christ on Thurs mornings. Our LIFE Group also has many different denominations, yet we are peacefully united in Christ and our common defense of the voiceless unborn (ecumenical). Even if we are traveling in different lanes, let us rejoice that we are all united as we follow Inner-state Christ (The Way) back to our Heavenly Father. Let's invite others to carpool with us along The Way...

Faith Challenge: Let's challenge each other to joyfully live out the Good News. Suggestions?

Hebrews 6:15 (patience)

Welcome God every morning before your work by taking ~5 min to read this Living In Faith Exchange (LIFE) Group devotion (life-devotions.blogspot.com), which has snippets from Living Faith (livingfaith.com). All whatsoever you do in word or in work, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ. Col. 3:17

After patient waiting, he obtained the promise. Hebrews 6:15

Living Faith snippets: "I have my desires, my dreams and expectations. I am frustrated by others who don't meet my needs and often resort to taking what I want. I know I've hurt others in the process, but I just can't seem to wait. If I wait and listen to the voice of the one who cares for me, I may get even more than I asked for." by Julia DiSalvo

Rich's comments: Why does impatience bring about anxiety and patience results in peace? I believe it is, because of the inner sense of control we all desire. I often get impatient when I am stuck in traffic. I get angry at how slow the drivers in front of me are going, because I have no control of how fast I can go. However, if I changed my perspective, and looked at the situation as me deciding to submit to the drivers blocking my path, ultimately giving them control, I would find peace. God is always in control, but nonetheless, if I submit to God and give God control of my life, I will find peace. May the peace of the Lord be with you always.

* Let's never forget the horrific reality of abortion (click here for images).
* Let's pray for courage to communicate the ProLife message through Christ to those around us (John 14:6)...rebuilding a Culture of Life (Matt 5:16).
