Pat's nuggets: Just this past Sunday, I saw today's verse on a memorial for all the babies killed by abortion. Coincidence...I think not! May our 40 day Lenten journey be focused on daily "taking on" or "giving up" (self denial) to help foster physical and spiritual life for others. Mother Teresa said, "Live simply, so others can simply live." Please consider sharing your Lenten journey experiences as a comment to this devotion post.

What you said about you seeing the verse on Sun. is sooo true! God has done that many times to me lately (I've blogged about them if interested.) The God sightings, as you called them, have been so incredible lately. I personally am just so excited about Lent and finally entering the church after 2.5 years of studying. I just can't get over how awesome and good God is lately!
The third reading today struck a chord with me. Then Jesus said to them all, "If any want to become my followers, let them deny themselves and take up their cross daily and follow me. For those who want to save their life will lose it, and those who lose their life for my sake will save it." Luke 9:23-24
Die to self, and you will find your real self. Lord Jesus, Help me to remember that I will lose nothing of value by putting you first and foremost in my life. Amen.
