Psalm 49:18 ("it's all about you, Jesus!")

Let's welcome God this morning by reflecting on this short Living In Faith Exchange (LIFE) Group devotion (life-devotions.blogspot.com), which is based on Living Faith. All whatsoever you do in word or in work, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ. Col. 3:17

When he dies, he shall take none of it; his wealth shall not follow him down. Psalm 49:18 (full readings)

Living Faith snippets: "Psalm 49 exhorts us to place our trust not in material riches but in God, while the gospel shows a group of women generously sharing their wealth with Jesus and His disciples, so they can carry out their ministry. What constitutes my real wealth...the size of my bank account or the breadth of my love?" by Sr. Melannie Svoboda

Pat nuggets: This past weekend I went to my 20 yr O'Gorman HS class reunion in Sioux Falls, SD. In route, my niece Shantelle and me discussed our freedom to live "outside the box" (sharing/expressing our special spiritual gifts) and our Christian responsibility to live "by the Book" (Bible). On Friday morning, I was blessed to meet 9 yr old JP Peters who has been in the hospital 11 of the last 14 months (see his prayer/website below). I was humbled to lead the reunion invocation prayer on Friday night. We attended Mass in the stadium before the football game on Saturday, singing The Heart of Worship: "I'm sorry Lord for the thing I've made it, when it's all about you, it's all about you, Jesus." On Sunday, five of the LIFE Runners (Aaron/Brenda, Steve, Jason, me) did the Sioux Falls half marathon. On the race website, the very first picture (out of 2000+ photos) shows my parents, brothers Dan/Steve, and me praying before the race, click here. Our LIFE Runners jersey was also seen on the front page of the local newspaper. Today's devotion image is Steve and me before the Sioux Falls race. The LIFE Runners will run the Twin Cities Marathon on Respect Life Sunday (4 Oct) and are raising $/mile for a crisis pregnancy center ultrasound machine..."Remember the Unborn."

Faith Challenges:
* NEW members include Karla (Hay) Brien and Lidka Whipple...welcome! Let's all invite one person each week (John 14:6) to join our LIFE Group (>220 ProLife Christians).
* NEW: Let's "Remember the Unborn" today by scheduling even just one hour of prayer in front of an abortion mill in support of the 40 Days for Life campaign (starts 23 Sep).

Sr. Francelle devotions: Terrorism of the Heart‏ and King Louis 1X, a Royal father‏ (St. Louis)

Counter-Culture News: LifeSiteNews, American Family Association, Priests for Life
* Let's never forget the horrific reality of abortion (images)...#1 cause of death in America. Let's courageously share ProLife Truth to create social tension for exposing abortion's unjust peace...rebuilding a Culture of Life (Matt 5:16) and setting the unborn free!

Our Prayers: Those who pray together stay together. Fasting ideas in footnote below.
* Prayer to end abortion, abused children, chastity, peace, our enemies, our troops, depression/despair, prisoners, ProLife politicians, illnesses/injuries, jobs, natural disasters, refugees, addictions, persecuted believers, Peters family (JP in hospital), Lynn Bishara (for son Alex), Kay Castle (special intentions), Pat Castle (for cousin Michael)

Faith Quote: "All the darkness in the world cannot extinguish the light of a single candle." St. Francis

Through Christ our Lord,
Pat
Phil 4:13

* Prayer: Prayer connects us with God's will & His miracles, changing us & helping others. 'If you pray that God will move a mountain and He doesn't, assume Christ wants you to climb it instead.'
* Fasting: Let's fast from things that take our eyes off Jesus (selfishness, bitterness, being so critical, impatience, gossip, excessive video games, etc) and take on things that fix our eyes on Jesus (selflessness, kindness, compassion, forgiveness, patience, understanding, caring, helping, listening).
* Defend the unborn: 'Rescue those who are unjustly sentenced to death; don't stand back and let them die' (Prov 24:11). 'Before I formed you in the womb, I knew you' (Jer 1:5). 'It is a great poverty that a child must die that you might live as you wish' (Blessed Mother Teresa).
* Evangelization: Let's make room for unbelievers (be a friend, make a friend, lead a friend to Christ) and perpetual re-evangelization of self and those near us, by way of daily prayer (relationship) and following Christ's example of selfless love, mercy, and service (Matt 28:19).
