Psalm 79:4-5 (let's get along)

Let's welcome God this morning by reflecting on this short Living In Faith Exchange (LIFE) Group devotion (life-devotions.blogspot.com), which is based on Living Faith. All whatsoever you do in word or in work, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ. Col. 3:17

We have become the reproach of our neighbors, the scorn and derision of those around us. O Lord, how long? Psalm 79:4-5 (full readings)

Living Faith snippets: "When personalities conflict, it's human nature to resort to reproach and scorn. Think of political parties, competing markets, even Peter and Paul. I'll admit it, certain people confound me. As much as I want to avoid and judge, I am called to listen and forgive instead, open myself to the truth they hold and seek the universally unified kingdom. Make me patient and understanding. May I forgive as I have been forgiven by you." by Julia DiSalvo

Sr Francelle devotion: The Joy of Suffering

Faith Challenges:
* NEW members include Lisa Ingram and Brittany Morris...welcome! Let's all invite one person each week (John 14:6) to join our LIFE Group (>240 of God's children).
* NEW: Let's schedule even just one hour for prayer at a local abortion mill (foot of the cross) in unified support for ProLife with the 40 Days for Life campaign (began 23 Sep). Today's devotion image is the 40 Days for Life Eucharistic Procession around the abortion mill (Planned Parenthood) in Jacksonville, FL. Mandy Tentinger shared: "It is very emotional for me to see and hear of women choosing to kill their babies by the thousands on a daily basis when there are so many other options open to them and as I could have very easily been one of these babies. You see I was born in Sioux Falls just 9 months after Roe v. Wade was passed. My mother could have taken my life, legally. But she chose to give me life. I was adopted through Catholic Charities and have had a wonderful life with many of God's blessings smiling upon me. I've also had my trials and tribulations which opened my eyes to the many wonders that He is. God has a reason for all things that happen. Even though it's not apparent right away sometimes... eventually you see and I just know that whenever a women makes it her right to "choose" that God sheds a tear as He reclaims these tender little souls and holds them close to His heart. Through the eyes of one of the "unaborted", I want women to understand what they are doing not only to their souls, but to the innocent lives of their babies."

* Let's never forget the horrific reality of abortion (images)...#1 cause of death in America. Let's courageously share ProLife Truth to create social tension for exposing abortion's unjust peace...rebuilding a Culture of Life (Matt 5:16) and setting the unborn free!
* The LIFE Runners are doing the Twin-Cities Marathon on Respect Life Sunday (4 Oct) to raise money for an ultrasound machine at A Woman's Answer Medical Center. Please consider sponsoring our team by donating $/mile: checks payable to "Knights of Columbus" and sent to PO Box 14044, Gainesville, FL 32604.

Our Prayers: Those who pray together stay together. Fasting ideas in footnote below.
* Prayer to end abortion, abused children, chastity, peace, our enemies, our troops, depression/despair, prisoners, ProLife politicians, illnesses/injuries, jobs, natural disasters, refugees, addictions, persecuted believers, Peters family (JP in hospital), Lynn Bishara (for son Alex), Stephanie Spader (for pregnancy)

Feast Day for Guardian Angels: Any stories?

Faith Quote: "Exercise daily - walk with the Lord."

Through Christ our Lord,
Pat
Phil 4:13

* Prayer: Prayer connects us with God's will & His miracles, changing us & helping others. 'If you pray that God will move a mountain and He doesn't, assume Christ wants you to climb it instead.'
* Fasting: Let's fast from things that take our eyes off Jesus (selfishness, bitterness, being so critical, impatience, gossip, excessive video games, etc) and take on things that fix our eyes on Jesus (selflessness, kindness, compassion, forgiveness, patience, understanding, caring, helping, listening).
* Defend the unborn: 'Rescue those who are unjustly sentenced to death; don't stand back and let them die' (Prov 24:11). 'Before I formed you in the womb, I knew you' (Jer 1:5). 'It is a great poverty that a child must die that you might live as you wish' (Blessed Mother Teresa).
* Evangelization: Let's make room for unbelievers (be a friend, make a friend, lead a friend to Christ) and perpetual re-evangelization of self and those near us, by way of daily prayer (relationship) and following Christ's example of selfless love, mercy, and service (Matt 28:19).
