1 Sam 3:9-10 (Speak, for your servant is listening) by Royce Hood

Welcome God now with this LIFE Group Devotion (FB), provided by LIFE Runners(FB). Guest Authors schedule. LIFE Minute radio.

When Samuel went to sleep in his place, the LORD came and revealed his presence, calling out as before, "Samuel, Samuel!" Samuel answered, "Speak, for your servant is listening." ~ 1 Sam 3:9-10 (full readings)

Royce's Reflections: We must be prepared spiritually to answer God’s call when it comes.  This means striving to maintain a state of Grace by regularly attending the Sacrament of Reconciliation.  Our call to serve God can come at any time, and it often comes when we least expect it.  So we should make a conscious effort to always be prepared spiritually, mentally and emotionally to answer as Samuel did, “speak [Lord], for your servant is listening.” Take the story of Abby Johnson, the former Planned Parenthood Director who quit her job and is now a national Pro-Life leader.  Her call came on Sept 26, 2009 when Abby was asked to assist with an ultrasound-guided abortion.  “She watched in horror as a 13 week baby fought, and ultimately lost, its life at the hands of the abortionist” (from UnPlanned book).  Abby did not know her life would be forever changed when she arrived at work that morning, but she was able, despite her past, to recognize God’s call!
