Sat, 12 Jan (1 John 5:14)‏

We have this confidence in Him, that if we ask anything according to His will, He hears us. 1 John 5:14

Devotion snippets: "We have this confidence because we believe that God loves us. Without this, prayer would make no sense at all. How do we know that our prayer is in accordance with His will? (see Luke 22:41-42)" by Fr. Ken Grabner

Defending the Unborn: Joe Hourigan and I prayed the Rosary and Chaplet of Divine Mercy with 31 other Christians in front of the local abortion clinic this morning (occurs every Saturday). On the way to the clinic, we were strengthened by the song, "Word of God Speak" by Kutless (google the lyrics). As evil is often disguised, we drove right by the abortion clinic (no big neon sign stating that children were being killed). However, when 33 Christians were praying in front of the building, the clinic stood out, as several passing cars either cheered or cursed us. This is powerfully analogous to our call to bring light to the darkness. My heart hurt to see two moms bring their young daughters to the clinic to kill their grandchildren. We prayed for them, aware of the serious consequences of abortion. The Right to Life ministry affords us opportunities to help save physical and spiritual lives. A pro-life rally is happening at 1:30 PM, Sat, 19 Jan at the Denver capitol steps, followed by a march. Project Rachel is a ministry that offers healing and hope to those grieving after abortion (www.hopeafterabortion.com/). Please take a look at the many suggestions that Focus on the Family provides on how to "be a voice for life" (http://www.heartlink.org/beavoice/). If we all pray and do even something small, we will become a big voice! Please reply or use the blog to comment on this devotion, regarding your own experiences defending the unborn.

My 1st ever blog...neato!
LIFE IS SACRED...
Last Saturdays gathering in front of Planned Parenthood was awesome, as a group of many strangers gathered together to pray in the cold conditions. We were united as a group of Christians, determined to have God hear our prayers of hope for the most vulnerable people in the world...babies in their Mothers wombs. How sad is that? Children more precious than anything... are not being given the opportunity to see the light of day. Forgive them Father, for they know not what they do. The mother with the 2 young daughters on Saturday was there to pray, despite the cold. Why? Because prayer changes things. Love changes things, whether we see it or not, it does! Our Father in heaven has heard the millions of prayers for the babies, and for their mothers, and He answers those prayers in His way, in His time. We can change the way people think, one person at a time. Planned parenthood does more than kill babies, they are also the number 1 provider of contraceptives, and what kind of a lifestyle does that launch people on? Contraception means: Against the beginning. God is the creator, and He should be the one to determine when He wants to create a new life. Our culture must change, we must be open to life. The huge majority of those women having abortions don't value life as a sacred, wonderful gift. So to you reading this blog, I say: Be Not Afraid. Speak of how wonderful life is, find answers to your difficult life related questions, investigate NFP (Natural Family Planning), stand up and make a difference. Pray hard. Love one another! Life is sacred...

I ordered and received 50 ten-week baby models to hand out when appropriate...for proper perspective on the reality of the children being killed through abortion. If you live in C. Springs, I would be happy to give you one for your own ministry. You can see a picture and order them at:

With the upcoming elections, I ordered and received two license plate holders that say, "I Vote Pro-Life." You can see a picture and order at: http://www.mainstreetshirt.com/details.php?fc_product=mainstreetshirt.142381060&fc_prodid=52

Our daughter Grace brought her 10 wk baby model (see Pat's comment above) to her hair appointment and showed everyone! People were really amazed at the obviousness of life at 10 weeks! Grace is bringing the baby for her show and tell at daycare on Thurs.

I am especially moved by how powerful the ten-week baby models can be as teaching tools. I love that 4-year-old Grace “gets it”. For God to change hearts, we need to be willing to educate this way. Grace has a great ministry going! Maybe you can extend her reach through YouTube!

Pat ordered me a Pro-Life license plate for me and I got it in the mail Friday. I was thinking to myself while I was putting it on my truck, would the opposition put Pro-Death licence plates on their vehicles? I don't think that the other side really understands what they are fighting for. The other day when I read Angie's comments about Grace sharing her 10-wk unborn child model with her class, I was curious of what it looked like so I searched for images on Google. I came across a very disturbing set of pictures that almost made me vomit and I felt uneasy for a good portion of the day. The website is here, http://www.abortiontv.com/Pics/AbortionPictures-FirstTrimester2.htm. I warn you though, the pictures are very graphic. A warning pops up after you have seen the pictures that you should be at least 12 years old. I was wondering why they would even allow 13 year olds to see this, but I guess they want to show sexually active teens the gruesome truth of abortion.

In the Focus on the Family newsletter (Jan), Dr. Dobson discussed the consequences of the Roe vs Wade decision (22 Jan 73). He said, “I doubt whether most Americans realize just how sweeping and ominous those decisions were in terms of dismantling our nation’s embrace of the sanctity of human life.” Dr. Dobson reported that abortion has claimed > 45 million innocent babies (according to CDC). For perspective, the Holocaust claimed 6 million Jews and 3-5 million others (handicapped, disabled, elderly, priests, etc). Currently, the 2,740 children are being aborted every day. Scott Casmer pointed out that this legal daily killing is almost equivalent to the 2,973 total deaths caused by the terrorist attacks on Sept 11th. Dr. Dobson also discussed the vast research on how abortion also leaves the mother “wounded” (depression, substance abuse, suicide, serious medical conditions) and the importance of voting for pro-life candidates in the upcoming election (5 Supreme Court justices beyond 69 yrs of age). Read the entire Jan newsletter at http://www.focusonthefamily.com/docstudy/newsletters/A000001065.cfm.

Dr. Dobson helped design a 12 question “Roe IQ Test”. He said, “I’m convinced that if Americans could answer each of these questions accurately, support for legalized abortion would erode even faster than it already has.” I was truly shocked by most of the answers. Please take a couple minutes to take the test and study the answers at www.roeiqtest.com.

Let’s encourage each other to speak up against the normalization of killing babies (abortion) in our society and pray fervently that the abortion-on-demand era will end soon.

P.S. We went to Focus on the Family yesterday to pick up the “Behind the Door” DVD and let the girls have fun in the welcome center play area. “Behind the Door” gives an 8 min tour of a vacant abortion clinic with comments from a sidewalk counselor. Seeing the rooms where over 20,000 babies died was saddening...like when I toured the Dachau concentration camp. If you are in C. Springs, I can loan you the DVD, or you can order it at http://resources.family.org/product/f00397v+behind+the+door.do?search=basic&keyword=behind+the+door&sortby=shortdesc&asc=true&page=1.

P.S.S. I mentioned that the baby models are 10 wks old, but Joe Hourigan noticed that there is a “12 wk” stamp on the back of the model. Thanks, Joe!
