...to the church of God that is in Corinth, to you who have been sanctified in Christ Jesus, called to be holy...
1 Corinthians 1:2
Devotion snippets: "The Church is called to be present but concealed within the broken, godless world. To the astonishment and ridicule of that very world, Christians lay claim to sanctity and describe themselves and their community as "holy.""

Today's devotional focuses on the Church. How appropriate since today is the 100 year anniversary of the prayer for Christian unity. In 1908 at Graymoor in Garrison, New York, the Franciscan Friars and Sisters of the Atonement held the first Church Unity Octave and have prayed for Christian unity, "without ceasing (1 Thes. 5-17)," ever since. Today, Christians around the world celebrate the Week of Prayer for Christian Unity together, with the encouragement of the World Council of Churches' Faith and Order Commission and the Vatican's Pontifical Council for Promoting Christian Unity.
Our LIFE Blog is a good example of the spirit for Christian unity. A group composed of Catholics and Protestants coming together, not focusing on our differences, but in our similarities - faith in Christ.
