Mon, 18 Feb (Daniel 9:9)

* Welcome God every day by reading the Living Faith devotional before work (~1 min). Order at http://www.livingfaith.com/.

But yours, O Lord, our God, are compassion and forgiveness! Daniel 9:9

Devotion snippets: A sister in my community recently described compassion as "your pain in my heart." This description is about as true to the core of compassion as one can get. To deliberately carry another's hurt in one's own heart requires a generous amount of other-centeredness. For another's suffering to reach our heart, there must be an openness, a willingness to let the pain reside there. By Sr. Joyce Rupp, O.S.M.

Rich's comments: This is personally a weakness of mine that I have been trying to work on; to have compassion for others. It might sound bad, but often when I hear a horrible story, my first thought is, "Boy, I am glad that didn't happen to me!" Lord, help me to embrace the suffering of others and to see it as an opportunity to share Your love. Amen.

Through Christ Our Lord,
Rich
