Sun, 10 Feb (Genesis 2:7)

* Welcome God every day by reading the Living Faith devotional before work (~1 min). Order at http://www.livingfaith.com/.

The Lord God formed man out of the clay of the ground and blew into his nostrils the breath of life, and so man became a living being. Genesis 2:7

Devotion snippets: We sometimes hold our breaths, reluctant to commit ourselves to a life of spirit, soul and faith for fear of what might be asked of us. But until we open ourselves wide to the good gifts of God and breathe deeply of the Holy Spirit we cannot hope to begin the life to which God calls us.

Rich's comments: "God made us, invented us as a man invents an engine. A car is made to run on gasoline, and it would not run properly on anything else. Now God designed the human machine to run on Himself. He Himself is the fuel our spirits were designed to burn, or the food our spirits were designed to feed on. There is no other. That is why it is just no good asking God to make us happy in our own way without bothering about religion. God cannot give us a happiness and peace apart from Himself, because it is not there. There is no such thing." - excerpt from C.S. Lewis' Mere Christianity. Lord may we realize that the things of this World will not bring us true happiness; only You can fuel our spirits. Amen.

Through Christ Our Lord,
Rich
