Acts 13:22 (God speaks!) by Kevin McNicholas

Welcome God now with this LIFE Group Devotion (FB), provided by LIFE Runners (FB). >

"Then he removed him and raised up David as their king; of him he testified, I have found David, son of Jesse, a man after my own heart; he will carry out my every wish." Acts 13:22 (full readings)

Kevin's Reflections: God speaks! In today's passage, God spoke through the prophet Samuel in the Old Testament about His servant David. David had both great strengths and humbling weaknesses. David was both a mighty king and a lowly sinner. King David’s greatest strength was that he allowed God to work through him. Samuel suggests that David is a man after God’s own Heart, as David acted in a way that was pleasing to God. Even when David’s sin separated him from God, he cried out for forgiveness in the form of many Psalms. What are we allowing to stop us from carrying out God’s every wish? God speaks to us daily. God’s Voice comes to us from the prophets of the Old Testament, and His Son spoke words that the world will never forget! God is still speaking just as loudly as ever. Are we prepared to listen to Him? With so many worldly distractions, we must not allow ourselves to slip into routines of sin that keep us sidetracked from God’s Voice. Let us pray each day that we never put anyone or anything before our truly loving, merciful, and awesome God!
