Let's welcome God today by reflecting on this short Living In Faith Exchange (LIFE) Group devotion (life-devotions.blogspot.com), which is based on Living Faith. All whatsoever you do in word or in work, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ. Col. 3:17
Glorify the Lord... Psalm 147:12 (full readings)
Living Faith snippets: "We may look to the beauty of the sky or the smile of a baby to measure His greatness. But it is important to remember that He is [also] in life's in-between moments...those moments sandwiched between the glorious heights, when we do our best to return what was lost. It could be an apology to one we may have hurt or a simple letter of thanks for a kindness received and long taken for granted." by Fr. James Behrens
Pat's nuggets:
* In today's picture (Nike poster), basketball star LeBron James is portrayed looking up to the sky with his arms out...the caption states "WE ARE ALL WITNESSES." Witnesses to what? If this was a poster of you or me, what would others be witnessing? What do we want them to be witnessing? Following today's Bible verse, as Christians, we want others to witness us glorifying the Lord! My daughter Paige (9) looked at the LeBron poster and genuinely said, "Dad, is that you?" Ha! Children do indeed look up to their parents...may they witness us as the "domestic church" (yesterday's faith quote), building the Kingdom of God here and now. "We are all witnesses" to God's glory!
* For an Air Force class, we are studying about noble efforts to use nonlethal weapons for reducing loss of life. After 3 airmen recently died in motor vehicle accidents, the base was briefed on driving safety to help prevent loss of life. Yet our taxpayer dollars also contribute to the killing of almost 4,000 children a day (abortion)...a choice that stops a child's beating heart and injures the parents. Let's insist on using our taxpayer dollars for ultrasounds instead (healthcare bill), so mothers can see that they are carrying a child, not a choice. Rich Reich shared research that concluded "90% of women considering abortion choose to have their baby after seeing an ultrasound image." 40 Days for Life (until 1 Nov). Prayer to end abortion.
Sr. Francelle's devotion: "I am the Vine; you are the Branches."
Faith Challenges: Let's all invite one person each week (John 14:6) to join our LIFE Group (~ 250 of God's children).
* NEW: As highlighted in today's snippets, may we bear witness to His glory by "returning what was lost" (apology, thankfulness, etc).

* Let's never forget the horrific reality of abortion (images)...#1 cause of death in America. Let's courageously share ProLife Truth to create social tension for exposing abortion's unjust peace...rebuilding a Culture of Life (Matt 5:16) and setting the unborn free!
Our Prayers: Those who pray together stay together. Fasting ideas in footnote below.
* Prayer to end abortion, abused children, chastity, peace, our enemies, our troops, depression/despair, prisoners, ProLife politicians, illnesses/injuries, jobs, natural disasters, refugees, addictions, persecuted believers, Peters family (JP in hospital), Lynn Bishara (for son Alex), Joe Hourigan (for brother Mike)
Faith Quotes:
* "Star-shaper, river-bender, snow-sifter, Jesus-maker, I love you. I trust you. I give you all my worries." from Living Faith for Kids 28 Oct
* "I pray you are happy and healthy. And if your not, I hope you're suffering joyfully." Joe Hourigan
* "The things professional athletes are able to do on the field of play are really nothing compared to the mighty deeds God is doing in our world today—in and through those of us who choose to follow Jesus and join him in his mission of reconciling all of creation back to God." Steve Knight

Phil 4:13
* Prayer: Prayer connects us with God's will & His miracles, changing us & helping others. 'If you pray that God will move a mountain and He doesn't, assume Christ wants you to climb it instead.'
* Fasting: Let's fast from things that take our eyes off Jesus (selfishness, pornography, bitterness, criticalness, impatience, gossip, excessive video games, etc) and take on things that fix our eyes on Jesus (selflessness, kindness, compassion, forgiveness, patience, understanding, caring, helping, listening).
* Defend the unborn: 'Rescue those who are unjustly sentenced to death; don't stand back and let them die' (Prov 24:11). 'Before I formed you in the womb, I knew you' (Jer 1:5). 'It is a great poverty that a child must die that you might live as you wish' (Blessed Mother Teresa).
* Evangelization: Let's make room for unbelievers (be a friend, make a friend, lead a friend to Christ) and perpetual re-evangelization of self and those near us, by way of daily prayer (relationship) and following Christ's example of selfless love, mercy, and service (Matt 28:19).
