Let's welcome God today with this Living In Faith Exchange (LIFE) Group devotion (archive), anchored by Living Faith. Prove yourselves doers of the Word, and not merely hearers. James 1:22
You will not abandon my soul to the nether world... Psalm 16:10 (full readings)
Living Faith snippets: "My father died a few years ago. In the month he spent in hospitals enduring procedures that ultimately failed, I often found myself reciting this phrase like a mantra, alternating between "his soul" and "my soul." It helped me believe that the discomforts and indignities of Dad's final days were not going to be his ultimate end." by Aileen A. O'Donoghue
Rich's comments: By having confidence in Jesus, we can face death with confidence knowing that it is not the end. Our confidence in Christ should aspire to be as strong as St. Paul's, who said, "For to me life is Christ and death is gain." (Phil 1:21) He looked forward to death with keen anticipation saying, "I long to depart this life and be with Christ, for that is far better." (Phil 1:23) Have confidence that Jesus will not abandon our soul to the nether world. Death is merely the portal of life. Lord, You are the resurrection and the life. May I have faith and confidence in You. Amen.
* Read Sr. Francelle's devotion "We need confidence in Jesus!" and become aware of how the devil attacks us. The devil tries to take away our confidence in ourselves, but the only confidence that we need is in Jesus.
