1 John 2:8 ("Go light your world!") by Angi Castle

Welcome God now with this LIFE Group Devotion (website, Facebook).

"...for the darkness is passing away, and the true light is already shining." 1 John 2:8 (full readings)

Angi's Reflections: Today's verse is encouraging...Christ has lit The Way for us! On Christmas Eve, we visited the Sioux Falls Alpha [crisis pregnancy] Center to support those on the front line of the battle for Life. I was inspired and truly in awe of what they do. We then brought hugs and carols to Luther Manor nursing home where Grandma Mary used to reside. After seeing that we were the only ones there, I was reminded that the elderly often have no one to visit them throughout the year (a needy ministry). I was emotional after receiving a tight hug from a lady who recently lost her husband of 75 yrs. The awesome song Go Light Your World bridges my Christmas experiences and New Year's challenge. As the song says, "See now your sister, she's been robbed and lied to, still holds a candle without a flame." Like those who serve at the Alpha Center, let's light the candles of women and men who have been lied to and robbed of Life...helping them heal from the pain of abortion. "So carry your candle, run to the darkness. Seek out the hopeless, confused and torn. Hold out your candle for all to see it. Take your candle, and go Light your world." God bless you.

* There can be no ‘Peace on Earth’ without ‘Peace in the Womb’: "The safest place for any child to be should, in fact, be their mother’s womb. How can we truly expect to have peace on earth when there is no peace in the womb?"

Our Prayers: Prayer to end abortion, Alpha Center, Peters family (JP). View, add, update Prayers on our website. Let’s pray now.
* Edith Berry shared: "On Dec 29, 2009 my dear friend and prayer warrior for Rachel's Vineyard died from ALS. Sylvia Jensen suffered much especially the last year. Her prayers saved my life and brought me back to the church after my Rachel's Vineyard retreat. At the prayer service for her I shared my abortion story and thanksgiving for Sylvia's life and then mentioned how God's plan is so perfect, she lived one more day just to pray on this earth for the Holy Innocents. What a gift she was! Now I'm going to cry and that's ok. So much emotion when I think of the Feast of the Holy Innocents. I'm so grateful for the gifts of Redemption and reconciliation."

Feast Day: St. Thomas Becket

Faith Quote: "Christ is our peace! How fragile is a peace not rooted in the eternal, not based on the sure foundation of God's law and love." ~ John Paul II
