Pat's Reflections: This verse is an inspirational ProLife charge for the New Year. Just before the ball dropped in Times Square on New Year's Eve, John Lennon's "Imagine" peace song was played...calling us to "imagine there's no Heaven, It's easy if you try, No hell below us, Above us only sky." Christ gave us the most powerful image of peace (love your enemies)...but with heaven/hell because of God's gift of freedom to choose. Peace is destroyed by choosing selfishness ("living for today" instead of eternity), with the most extreme example being abortion (pro-choice). Sadly, someone "living for today" murdered John Lennon. Isn't it amazing how God's grace allows holy people to maintain peace even when others choose to hurt them (love your enemies)? As followers of Christ, we sing out these lyrics as a peace prayer for the world..."I hope someday you'll join us, And the world will be as one." Imagine...
