Psalm 62:6 (rest in Him) by Fr. Daren

Welcome God now with this LIFE Group Devotion (FB), provided by LIFE Runners (FB). Guest Authors schedule. LIFE Minute radio.

“Only in God be at rest, my soul, for from Him comes my hope.” ~ Psalm 62:6 (full readings)

Fr. Daren's Reflections: In our often busy and hectic lives we do not always know what to do when a quiet moment or two are afforded us. We spend so much time and effort bemoaning our busyness that when an opportunity for rest comes our way, we often miss it and choose instead to “work ahead” or to “catch up,” all in the rather vain attempt to be able to rest at some point in the future. This seems to suggest the mentality that we can come to a place of rest on our own. But such is not the case, as anyone who spends more than a few moments in silence will know. Deep within, we yearn and long for something more, something greater, something far more profound and fulfilling than what we presently have. We know, at least intuitively, that this life cannot satisfy us, and yet we try to use the things of this world to bring us satisfaction and contentment, to arrive at the rest we desire but so often pass by. Despite the alluring promises of the world, our souls will only be at rest in God, from whom comes the hope of salvation.
